Morelos bans fireworks during Independence Day to protect animals

Animal protection groups in Morelos have welcomed a decision by the state governor to suspend the use of fireworks during Independence Day celebrations. The Asociación Civil Rescatando Mascotas noted that the ban is a significant step for animal welfare, as pyrotechnics can cause stress, disorientation, and nervous alterations in pets and shelter animals.

Representatives explained that in shelters, the noise increases the risk of accidents, as fear can trigger aggressive reactions among animals in confined spaces. To protect pets, experts recommend keeping them in closed rooms, using ambient music to dampen noise, and using calming treats or medications only under strict veterinary prescription.
