Morelos dams reach 57 percent capacity amid critical levels at El Rodeo

The National Water Commission (Conagua) reports that the 18 primary dams monitored in Morelos are currently at 57.65 percent of their total capacity, storing 31.01 million cubic meters of water. This represents a deficit of 22.78 million cubic meters for the state's population and agricultural producers.

The El Rodeo dam in Miacatlán is facing a critical situation, operating at only 33.84 percent capacity with 6.09 million cubic meters stored. Because this reservoir holds approximately one-third of the total capacity of all monitored dams in the state, its low levels directly impact agricultural activities in the western region.

In contrast, four reservoirs have reached 100 percent capacity: Cruz Pintada in Tlaquiltenango, Socavones and Popotlán in Temoac, and Barreto in Zacualpan. Other dams, such as El Gigante and Cerro Prieto, are also reporting levels above 90 percent.
