Morelos government negotiates with union amid service disruptions
The Government of Morelos is maintaining dialogue with the Executive Power Workers Union to address labor demands while prioritizing public services. Secretary of Administration and Finance, Jorge Salazar Acosta, stated that the administration is following legal procedures and addressing union concerns under the instruction of Governor Margarita González Saravia.
Despite ongoing meetings, union members blocked access to the Government Palace on October 13, causing disruptions to public services and administrative procedures. Officials characterized the paralysis of public services as unacceptable. To provide financial certainty, the state executive announced it will directly distribute a one-time Christmas bonus of over 1,800 pesos to union members.
Regarding allegations of a hiring freeze, officials clarified that current delays in personnel movements are standard procedures related to the fiscal year-end and budget availability, rather than measures targeting unionized staff.
