Morelos Governor attributes UAEM bus diversion to driver error

Morelos Governor Margarita González Saravia clarified that a bus carrying 30 students from the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Morelos (UAEM) was diverted to Mexico City due to a human error. The driver, who was reportedly new to the route, missed the exit for Cuautla on the Cuernavaca-Mexico highway and was unable to turn around locally, forcing the vehicle to continue to the capital before returning.

Separately, incidents of violence against passenger buses have been reported on highways in the Puebla region. On August 31, a bus traveling from Puebla to Oaxaca was pelted with large stones on the Cuacnopalan-Oaxaca highway, causing damage to windows and windshields. This followed a similar incident on August 30 involving an ADO bus, where individuals in a vehicle threw stones and opened fire near El Carnero. In both cases, drivers avoided stopping to prevent potential robberies, and while passengers experienced distress, no serious injuries were confirmed.
