Morelos health officials issue back-to-school wellness guidelines

Health authorities in Morelos, including the Hospital de la Niñez Morelense (HNM) and IMSS Bienestar, have issued recommendations to protect children's health during the return to school. To mitigate the risk of respiratory and gastrointestinal infections caused by close contact in classrooms, officials emphasize several key preventive measures.

Hygiene and nutrition are central to these guidelines. Experts recommend frequent handwashing with soap and water, maintaining daily bathing routines, and regular teeth brushing. For nutrition, parents are encouraged to pack lunches containing fruits and vegetables while avoiding excessive salt, fats, and sugary drinks, opting instead for natural water for hydration.

Medical preparedness and lifestyle habits are also highlighted. Authorities advise ensuring all vaccinations are up to date and reviewing any chronic conditions, such as asthma or diabetes, with schools. Additionally, establishing regular sleep schedules is recommended to improve concentration and energy. Finally, caregivers are urged to monitor children's emotional well-being during the transition to new school routines.
