Morelos Health Secretary Mario Ocampo warns families to prevent falls and drownings this summer

As the summer vacation period begins, the Secretaría de Salud of the Mexican state of Morelos issued an urgent public safety alert. Health Secretary Mario Ocampo highlighted that falls from heights or level and drownings are the most common medical emergencies among children and older adults during the holiday weeks.

The agency urged parents and caregivers to supervise minors at all times, block unsupervised access to stairs, balconies, patios and rooftops, remove loose rugs and cords, and ensure that any swimming pools, splash pads or natural water bodies are constantly monitored. Certified life jackets should be used for children in deep water. Ocampo noted that no drowning incidents have been recorded so far this season, but the goal is to keep that record unchanged through proactive prevention.
