Morelos officials push for school security and address teacher stress

State deputy Ruth Rodríguez called on all 36 municipalities in Morelos to increase security at schools during the summer vacation, after at least ten schools were robbed while empty. She urged permanent monitoring, cooperation with parent groups and social committees, and coordination between municipal authorities and communities to protect facilities and avoid disruption of services for returning students.

Governor Margarita González faced criticism from the National Teachers' Union (SNTE) over rising emotional burnout among teachers. The union reported that about 20% of the state's roughly 33,600 teachers – around 6,700 educators – suffer stress and anxiety related to heavy workloads, conflicts with parents, administrative pressure and incidents of school violence. While the government highlights promotional programs and psychological support initiatives, it has not provided an official diagnostic report on the scale of the problem.
