Morelos residents report non-venomous snake sightings in homes

Residents in the Morelos region of Mexico have reported recent encounters with snakes inside their homes, leading to local alarm.

In the Casasano neighborhood of Cuautla, emergency services responded to a report of a snake found under a flowerpot in a residence. Firefighters identified the reptile as a false coral snake, a species that is non-venomous to humans despite its resemblance to the dangerous coral snake. The animal was safely captured and released into a remote natural habitat.

In a separate incident in the El Coyol housing unit, a family discovered a snake approximately 30 centimeters long in their garden and laundry area. The residents identified the specimen as a ‘Perico’ snake, which they determined was not lethal to humans. The family secured the animal to protect it from their pets while seeking assistance from environmental experts or wildlife rescuers for its safe relocation.
