Morena and PT reaffirm 2027 electoral alliance

The political alliance between Morena and the Partido del Trabajo (PT) for the 2027 elections has been reaffirmed following recent tensions regarding the selection of candidates. Leaders from both parties, including Morena's Ariadna Montiel and the PT's Alberto Anaya, have confirmed their commitment to the coalition and to supporting President Claudia Sheinbaum.

The friction stemmed from disagreements over the methodology of internal surveys used to select state coordinators and potential candidates. To resolve these disputes, the parties have established a technical working group and agreed to implement “mirror surveys” (encuestas espejo) across 17 states to ensure transparency and parity in the selection process.

In the State of Mexico, local leadership has also confirmed that the alliance with the PT and PVEM remains intact. While the PT had previously warned of potential electoral losses for Morena if their contributions were disregarded, both national and regional leaders are now emphasizing dialogue and patience to maintain the 'Cuarta Transformación' project.
