Morena candidates compete for Sonora coordination leadership

Candidates for the State Coordination of the Committees for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty in Sonora are entering the final stages of the internal selection process for the Morena party, in coalition with the Labor Party and the Green Party.

Celida López Cárdenas stated that she is leading internal polls and emphasized the need for political reconciliation to integrate the five teams that will not be selected. López Cárdenas highlighted the importance of having a leader capable of managing binational relations due to Sonora’s border status, citing her previous experience with the Sonora-Arizona Commission.

Lorenia Valles Sampedro expressed confidence in the upcoming survey method, asserting that it allows militants and citizens to have a direct voice in the decision-making process. Valles emphasized her commitment to social transformation and territorial organization through house-to-house visits and community assemblies. The national leadership is expected to provide final definitions regarding these positions toward the end of August.
