Morena deputies in Querétaro demand Usebeq halt intimidation of school principals

State deputies Sinuhé Piedragil Ortiz and Homero Barrera of the Morena party presented copies of letters sent by the Internal Control Office of the State Education Services Agency (Usebeq) between March and June. The letters asked principals of public basic‑education schools to explain why the deputies were allowed to enter the schools.

The deputies said their visits were intended to promote reading through a federal program with the Fondo de Cultura Económica and to inform students about federal scholarship programs, not to conduct political campaigning. They denounced the Usebeq inquiries as intimidation of school directors, especially as elections approach, and called for impartial treatment of all public officials who work in schools. Usebeq’s internal‑control department has been cited as the source of the requests, and the deputies urged the agency to clarify the reason for the demands and to stop pressuring school staff.
