Morena faces highest electoral sanctions in Mexico

The National Electoral Institute (INE) has identified Morena as the political party with the highest number of sanctions for improper affiliations. Between 2020 and 2026, Morena accounted for 56 percent of the total 2.9 billion pesos in fines issued to eight political parties, totaling 1.641 billion pesos in sanctions.

Reports indicate that the party has faced penalties for serious misconduct, including the use of false signatures and deceptive practices. Other parties, such as the PRI and PT, have also faced fines for operational expenditure irregularities, with the PT receiving significant penalties for 2024 spending.
