Chihuahua Governor and Morena Leader Clash Over CIA Operative Allegations

A political confrontation has escalated between Chihuahua Governor Maru Campos and Morena national leader Ariadna Montiel Reyes following allegations regarding the involvement of CIA agents in a Mexican security operation.

During a tense meeting in Ciudad Juárez, Governor Campos reportedly accused former state prosecutor César Jáuregui of allowing unauthorized US intelligence agents to participate in an operation to dismantle a drug laboratory in the Tarahumara region. Campos also alleged that Jáuregui was involved in corruption and owned casinos.

Ariadna Montiel has rejected these claims, calling them baseless and accusing the Chihuahua administration of violating national sovereignty by allowing foreign agents to operate on Mexican soil. Montiel has demanded that Campos present evidence to the competent authorities.

President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed the heated nature of the meeting between herself and Campos, noting that both leaders raised their voices. Sheinbaum stated that the federal government will investigate the presence of foreign agents in accordance with national security laws and encouraged Campos to bring any evidence of corruption regarding Jáuregui to the Attorney General's Office (FGR).
