Chihuahua political landscape sees legal rulings and alliance shifts
Political tensions are rising in Chihuahua as various figures navigate upcoming electoral processes and legal disputes. The State Electoral Tribunal (TEE) ruled against a complaint of political violence against Senator Andrea Chávez, finding that statements made by PAN coordinator Alfredo Chávez did not constitute gender-based political violence, despite some magistrates arguing that terms like “narcojuniors” and “narcopolítica” were used.
Regarding the 2027 elections, political maneuvering continues between Morena and the Labor Party (PT). While some PT leaders have suggested Andrea Chávez could run under PT banners if not selected by Morena, local legislators maintain that the alliance between the two parties remains intact unless official leadership decides otherwise.
Separately, César Jáuregui Moreno has reaffirmed his candidacy for the PAN municipal presidency in Chihuahua. He addressed rumors regarding investigations by the Attorney General's Office (FGR), clarifying that he has participated only as a witness in a narcolaboratory investigation and has no criminal charges against him.
