Morena Medinaceli Lobos earns first WTA point at W15 Neuquén

Fourteen-year-old Argentine tennis player Ángela Morena Medinaceli Lobos secured her first WTA ranking point during the W15 Neuquén tournament held at El Rincón Club de Campo. Competing with a wildcard entry, Medinaceli Lobos defeated sixth seed Marina Bulbarelli with a score of 6-3, 6-2 in her professional debut.

Medinaceli Lobos is the fourth South American player born in 2011 to earn a WTA ranking point. Although she earned the point, she will not yet appear in the official rankings, as the WTA requires points to be accumulated across three different tournaments or through reaching a final.

Following her initial victory, Medinaceli Lobos reached the round of 16 before being defeated by Valentina Abril. The W15 Neuquén tournament has progressed to the quarterfinal stage, featuring several regional players and international competitors from the United States, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Russia.
