Morena opens internal registration for municipal leadership roles

Morena has officially opened the registration process for aspirants seeking positions as municipal and district coordinators for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty Committees. These roles are intended as territorial leadership positions to organize movement activities, such as door-to-door visits and community meetings, rather than direct electoral candidacies.

The selection process will be managed nationally by the National Elections Commission, chaired by Citlalli Hernández. The commission will conduct an integral assessment of all profiles, prioritizing unity agreements and utilizing surveys where necessary to define leadership. Approved registrations are expected to be published by December 31.

Across various regions, the process has seen diverse activity. In Mérida, four candidates—Óscar Brito Zapata, Estefanía Baeza Martínez, Susana Gamboa Salazar, and Liborio Vidal Aguilar—have registered, with the final selection to be determined by a party survey. In Tijuana, leadership figures including Ariadna Montiel and Julieta Ramírez have called for strengthened territorial organization ahead of the 2027 elections. Other local aspirants, such as Evelyn Sánchez in Tijuana and Rafa Marín in Benito Juárez, have also entered the process to bolster the party's presence in their respective communities.
