Morena police arrest man for 6 lakh rupee gold fraud

Police in Morena have arrested Sameer Pathan, an individual accused of defrauding a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law of gold jewelry worth approximately six lakh rupees by posing as a Sufi saint.

The incident occurred in 2022 in the Durgapuri Colony area. The accused claimed he could treat a medical condition and convinced the women to place their gold jewelry into a pot for a ritual. After providing the women with water that caused them to lose consciousness, the suspects returned to find the jewelry had been replaced with pebbles. The stolen items included earrings, rings, and mangalsutras.

Pathan, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, was identified by an acquaintance in Gwalior while attempting to sell gold. Authorities recovered 28,000 rupees in cash from his possession.
