Mexico: Legislators call for political party reforms and address INE leadership

In Mexico, several political developments are unfolding. Michoacán Deputy Carlos Alejandro Bautista Tafolla has called on all political parties to purge members with alleged ties to organized crime, specifically mentioning Rubén Rocha Moya. Tafolla also asserted that the murder of former Uruapan mayor Carlos Manzo Rodríguez had political motives and criticized the Federal Attorney General's Office for not investigating it as such from the beginning.

Regarding electoral governance, analyst Denise Dresser is leading a citizen initiative to request a political trial against former National Electoral Institute (INE) president Guadalupe Taddei Zavala. The request follows her resignation on October 26 and concerns allegations of irregular hiring practices and potential conflicts of interest involving electoral material suppliers.

In the Chamber of Deputies, Ricardo Monreal announced an upcoming legislative agenda. This includes discussions on reforms to the Income Tax Law and an agreement to issue a call for a new INE presidency. Additionally, the Chamber is expected to hold a solemn ceremony in memory of Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas and begin discussions on the 2027 Federal Expenditure Budget.
