PRI accuses Morena of unilateral electoral reform in Tamaulipas

State PRI leader Bruno Díaz Lara denounced the electoral reform approved by the Morena‑controlled Congress in Tamaulipas, saying it was passed without public forums, party dialogue, or input from autonomous bodies and civil society. He warned the changes could weaken municipal representation and concentrate power in local governments, stating “municipal presidents cannot feel like owners of the truth.”

Díaz also linked the reform to broader issues in the state, including insecurity, an agricultural crisis, border‑area job losses, and strained U.S.‑Mexico relations. The PRI pledged to regain political ground ahead of the 2027 elections, emphasizing its record on infrastructure and border connectivity.
