Morena pushes unity amid internal tensions ahead of 2027 elections
Morena leader Cruz Pérez Cuéllar spoke at an informational assembly in Guadalupe y Calvo, Chihuahua, reiterating the party’s commitment to defend the Fourth Transformation and urging local militants to stay organized as the state heads toward a decisive election. He warned that the region faces neglect and called for stronger coordination with the federal government and the President, Claudia Sheinbaum.
At the national level, the Morena organization launched a new internal analysis phase on 3 July to address growing disputes in several states over candidate selection for the 2027 intermediate elections. Party officials said maintaining unity while retaining control of state governments is the key test for the ruling movement. Internal frictions have been noted in Zacatecas, Sonora, Michoacán, Campeche, Colima and Sinaloa, where security, economic and administrative challenges are influencing local leadership battles. The national leadership pledged to strengthen dialogue mechanisms and follow party statutes to avoid splits that could benefit the opposition.
