Morena senators face new bureaucracy for flight requests

Morena senators in the Mexican Senate are facing administrative complications following changes to the guidelines for requesting and verifying air travel per diems. The new procedures require legislators to formalize flight requests for travel between their home states and Mexico City through an official digital channel.

Previously, senators could request tickets via telephone or instant messaging. Under the new regulations, effective October 13, 2026, all requests must be sent via a specific email address. The administrative coordination office, led by Yndira Sánchez Ruiz, stated that these changes aim to provide timely attention and efficient management.

The new rules require requests to be submitted at least two hours in advance during specific service hours: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 19:00. This shift follows the recent removal of the travel agency previously responsible for providing the tickets.
