Morena's internal primary in Zacatecas sees Ulises Mejía Haro overtaking Verónica Díaz
Two recent polls show Mexico's Morena party maintaining a strong lead in the upcoming gubernatorial race in Zacatecas. The first survey indicated a close internal contest between Verónica Díaz and Ulises Mejía Haro, with the party holding about 51% voter identification.
A later Demoscopia Profesional para la Democracia poll released in July 2026 gave Ulises Mejía Haro a clear advantage, recording 37.1% effective preference, 16.4 points ahead of Díaz, who obtained 20.7%. Other contenders lag behind. The results reinforce Mejía Haro's position as the front‑runner for Morena's state coordination, which will later nominate the coalition's candidate for the 2027 Zacatecas governor election.
