Moreno Debartoli transitions from film stardom to culinary career

Moreno Debartoli, who gained fame playing the character Malik in Emir Kusturica’s Palme d’Or-winning film ‘Otac na službenom putu’ (When Father Was on Duty), has transitioned from acting to a successful culinary career.

Debartoli recalls being discovered by Kusturica while playing football in school. Despite the film's massive success and the potential for a long acting career alongside stars like Miki Manojlović and Mirjana Karanović, he chose to pursue other interests.

He began his culinary journey in 1998 in Israel and later gained experience in the United Kingdom. A graduate of the Le Cordon Bleu academy in London, Debartoli has worked as a pastry chef and catering specialist in Tel Aviv. He has since become a chef in a Sarajevo hotel and serves as an official ambassador for a global chocolate brand in Southeast Europe.
