Moreno Mayor Mariel Fernández Opens Renovated Primary School

Moreno’s intendenta, Mariel Fernández, visited Primary School No. 49 “Nicolás Avellaneda” to mark the eighth anniversary of the deaths of teachers Sandra Calamano and Rubén Rodríguez. During the tour with school director Elida Cisterna, she highlighted the completion of comprehensive maintenance work, including sidewalk repair, mural restoration, bathroom upgrades, repainting, mast‑rope replacement, signage correction, tree pruning and the leveling of a newly ceded adjacent lot for future cultural and sports projects.

Fernández said the school now looks “beautiful, full of life and joy,” and emphasized the municipal effort to improve educational facilities so students can study in dignified environments. She also recalled Calamano and Rodríguez, who were killed in a tragic explosion eight years earlier, urging that justice be served and their memory continue to inspire the community.
