Moreno Soeprapto apologizes for video call during DPR meeting

Moreno Soeprapto, a member of Commission XII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) from the Gerindra Party, has issued a public apology following a viral video showing him making a video call and sticking out his tongue during a parliamentary meeting.

The footage, which originated from a hearing with MIND ID directors, resurfaced on social media, drawing criticism from the public regarding his conduct during official proceedings. Moreno explained that the video call was initiated by his wife, Nurani Sukardi, to comfort their daughter, who was recovering at home after being discharged from the hospital.

Moreno stated that his gesture of sticking out his tongue was a spontaneous attempt to entertain his daughter during the brief call. He emphasized that he had no intention of disrespecting or mocking the parliamentary session. His wife also apologized, noting that the decision to call during the meeting was not ideal and acknowledged the difficulty of balancing parental responsibilities with professional duties.
