Moreno transport companies protest new bus tender requirements

Transport companies operating in the Buenos Aires province held a peaceful protest at the Moreno Municipality to voice opposition to the requirements set by the administration of Mariel Fernández for a new bus system tender.

Representatives from the Cámara de Transporte de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (CTPBA) described the tender conditions as “very difficult to fulfill” and “quite pretentious.” Key grievances include the high costs of required roadworks and a mandate that all vehicles must be zero-kilometer within two years, which contradicts provincial regulations that extended the useful life of buses from 10 to 13 years.

Industry members expressed concerns that the tender is designed to favor specific large groups, making it nearly impossible for other companies to compete. The opening of the tender bids is scheduled for Friday, September 4.
