Moretti seeks 2028 reelection and reconciles with PL party leadership

Várzea Grande Mayor Moretti has initiated talks regarding her reelection in 2028, marking a reconciliation with the state leadership of the Liberal Party (PL). During a meeting in Cuiabá with state president Ananias Filho and federal deputy Coronel Fernanda, Moretti sought to mend ties following previous political friction.

The rapprochement follows a period of tension in which Moretti criticized the party for a lack of support and the dissolution of the PL Mulher in Várzea Grande. Tensions had escalated when she expressed support for Governor Otaviano Pivetta, contrary to party preferences, leading to discussions regarding potential disciplinary actions. While the possibility of expulsion was previously considered, it has since been discarded, and the state leadership is now treating her reelection as a priority, subject to internal party discussions.
