Morgan criticizes Sanremo Festival during Rome Film Festival

Musician Marco Castoldi, known as Morgan, has criticized the Sanremo Music Festival, claiming it has lost its musical soul and has become a mere spectacle. Speaking at the preview of his documentary, ‘Non importa dove’, directed by Francesco Fei and Consuelo Moschella at the Rome Film Festival, Morgan argued that the festival lacks musical competence and proper leadership.

He questioned why the public broadcaster, Rai, does not treat the event with more seriousness regarding its cultural importance. Morgan also commented on potential hosts, suggesting that Stefano De Martino is an excellent dancer but implying a lack of musical direction for the festival.

The artist's relationship with the festival remains contentious following his 2020 disqualification during a performance with Bugo, which occurred after Morgan altered song lyrics to include polemical verses.
