Morgan Freeman at 89 continues acting in 'Lioness

Morgan Freeman, the 89‑year‑old Oscar‑winning actor, told The New York Times that he has no plans to retire. He said he will keep working as long as roles are offered, emphasizing that both a compelling script and appropriate pay matter to his choices.

Freeman is returning as Edwin Mullins, the U.S. secretary of state, in the third season of Taylor Sheridan’s espionage thriller series “Lioness” on Paramount+. The season also stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman. In addition to acting, Freeman co‑founded a live blues club in Clarksdale, Mississippi, and is producing a blues record slated for release in August.

He reflected on his late‑blooming career, noting that his breakthrough came after age 50, and expressed gratitude for the continued demand for his distinctive voice and presence in film and television.
