Morgan Freeman praises Taylor Sheridan's emotionally driven writing

Actor Morgan Freeman told The New York Times that writer‑creator Taylor Sheridan’s strength lies in his focus on authentic human emotions rather than spectacle. Freeman highlighted Sheridan’s work on the hit series “Yellowstone” and its spinoffs, as well as the political thriller “Lioness,” where Freeman plays Secretary of State Edwin Mullins. He said, “His writing has to do more with the human experience, what people are actually going through, emotionally, in a lot of cases,” and added that it “takes courage to write about stuff like that.”

Sheridan, speaking on a recent podcast, echoed concerns about industry pressures, noting that endless rewrites and executive interference have made the writing process more difficult than in earlier eras. He lamented that many decision‑makers lack storytelling experience, which he believes hampers creative freedom.
