Morgan honored at Montegiordano poetry festival, defends Calabria's reputation

Italian singer‑songwriter Morgan was awarded at the "Il Paese della poesia d’amore" festival in the coastal town of Montegiordano, Calabria, held from 23 to 27 July 2026. The five‑day event attracted over 10,000 attendees and featured concerts and literary readings.

During his appearance, Morgan explained the origins of his 2004 song "Una storia d’amore e di vanità," originally composed as an instrumental for the film "Il siero della vanità" and later given lyrics inspired by Ovid’s Metamorphoses, likening himself to the nymph Eco. He thanked artistic director Giuseppe Aletti and voiced frustration over false rumors, limited TV exposure and difficulties publishing new music. Morgan concluded with a piano‑and‑voice concert on the promenade, praising Calabria as a beautiful region unfairly burdened by a terrible reputation.
