Morgan Stanley employee leaks internal list of 100+ investment deals

A Morgan Stanley employee accidentally leaked an internal document containing more than 100 investment banking deals, revealing the firm’s sensitive transaction pipeline. The error occurred when Mohamed Atmani, the bank’s Asia-Pacific head of financial sponsors, mistakenly emailed an internal version of a file to clients instead of a client-facing version.

The leaked list includes potential initial public offerings (IPOs) across China, South Korea, and India, as well as details regarding private equity and pension funds. While the document primarily focused on Asia, it also contained information regarding deals in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, including projects that had been placed on hold.

A blurred copy of the document was subsequently shared on Instagram. Morgan Stanley stated that it is taking immediate steps to address the inadvertent disclosure and is in communication with the affected parties. This incident follows a 2024 settlement where the bank paid over $249 million to resolve federal investigations into the misuse of confidential information related to block trades.
