Morgan State University ranks fourth among U.S. public HBCUs

Forbes magazine released its first‑ever list of America’s top Historically Black Colleges and Universities. Morgan State University in Baltimore placed fourth among public HBCUs, highlighted for graduate‑level programs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, applied neuroscience, screenwriting, animation and journalism, as well as doctoral studies in applied sociology and social justice. The university reported an undergraduate enrollment of 11,559, a six‑year graduation rate of 42 % and median early‑career salaries of $65,700 for alumni.

Howard University was named the top private HBCU, while Maryland Governor Wes Moore announced an $800 credit and admissions support for students disenrolled from Howard due to financial‑obligation issues. The ranking also noted other institutions such as North Carolina A&T State (public) and Spelman College (private). Notable alumni cited include Earl G. Graves Sr., April Ryan and Congressman Kweisi Mfume.
