Morioka culinary students host workshops and promote local ingredients
Culinary students and professionals in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture, are engaging in initiatives to promote local ingredients and professional skill development. At the MCL Saien Culinary College, award-winning Chinese cuisine chef Shinobu Sekine conducted a specialized workshop on October 15. The session, which included demonstrations of dishes such as Mapo Tofu, provided 55 participants with technical insights into ingredient preparation and flavor enhancement.
In a separate effort to highlight regional specialties, MCL Saien Culinary College students are collaborating with Morioka City to promote local produce. Following field visits to farms, students have developed a course menu centered on Morioka apples, alongside other local products like Beni-ki pork and Morioka salmon. This collaboration is part of a broader partnership between the school and the city aimed at regional revitalization and the promotion of local consumption.
