Morioka, Iwate hosts local employer fair for 500 high‑school students

On July 30, Morioka City in Iwate Prefecture held the fifth "Future My Job Exploration Conference" organized by the Furusato Iwate Settlement Foundation. The event invited roughly 500 high‑school students to meet representatives from 47 local companies covering six sectors, including environment, social welfare, and information technology.

High‑school students toured the booths, listened to presentations, and engaged directly with employers. Notably, Iwate Menkoi TV’s booth featured announcer Reiko Takahashi, who explained the station’s reporting work and its regional importance. Participants reported that the fair broadened their awareness of career options and sparked interest in fields they had not previously considered. The foundation said it will continue to create opportunities for direct interaction between local businesses and students to promote regional employment.

The event reflects ongoing efforts by Iwate authorities to retain young talent and address local labor needs through hands‑on outreach.
