Morón Air Base investigation into death of Air Force corporal
Authorities are investigating the death of Martín Javier Leguiza, a 26-year-old first corporal of the Argentine Air Force, who was found dead at the Morón Air Base while on guard duty. The body was discovered after colleagues noticed his prolonged absence from his post.
An autopsy determined that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the temple. While the primary hypothesis being investigated by Federal Judge Jorge Ernesto Rodríguez is suicide, judicial authorities are conducting complementary measures to rule out foul play. Preliminary findings suggest no third-party involvement, and the victim's service weapon was found near his right hand.
Investigators have ordered the seizure of the victim's cellphone, requests for entry and exit logs of the premises, and reviews of his health records and weapon control protocols. Toxicological studies and analysis of gunpowder residue are also underway. The Argentine Air Force stated it is cooperating fully with the judiciary and has activated all necessary protocols.
