Morón inaugurates food treatment plant and community kitchens

The Municipality of Morón has inaugurated a new Food Treatment Plant and two community kitchens to strengthen food recovery, production, and distribution. These facilities are located at the Social Economy Productive Hub and the El Palomar Trades Center.

Part of the Municipal Food Supply Program, the initiative aims to combine food recovery with labor training and commercialization. The food treatment plant operates in three stages: initial classification of fruits and vegetables at the market, separation and sanitization of recovered products, and subsequent use in food production. This modernization was funded by the Buenos Aires Technological Innovation Fund (FITBA).

During the inauguration, Mayor Lucas Ghi and Buenos Aires Minister of Agrarian Development Javier Rodríguez emphasized the project's role in transforming waste into raw materials for professional training and food security. Rodríguez noted that between 30% and 40% of produced fruits and vegetables are typically lost during the supply chain, a gap this program seeks to address.
