Morning hydration benefits heart and brain circulation
Health experts emphasize the importance of immediate morning hydration to improve microcirculation in the heart and brain. Consuming approximately 200 ml of fluid upon waking helps increase circulatory volume, ensuring better delivery of oxygen and glucose to vital organs.
Dr. Vojislav Perišić recommends starting the day with mineral water rich in magnesium to help relax blood vessel spasms and improve circulation. While orange juice is an option, consuming the whole fruit is preferred over juice to retain fiber and prevent constipation.
For individuals over 50, morning hydration is particularly critical as the sensation of thirst may diminish with age. Drinking warm water (35–40 °C) on an empty stomach can help reduce blood viscosity, activate bile secretion, and assist the kidneys in filtering metabolic waste accumulated overnight. Experts suggest drinking slowly in a seated position and waiting 20–30 minutes before eating breakfast.
