Morning Walks and Early Dinners Linked to Better Health, Study Finds
Research highlighted in a 2020 review of studies from Brown/Alpert Medical School shows that walking in the morning helps form a daily habit, boosts energy for the rest of the day, reduces snacking and improves mood through endorphin release. Evening walks, by contrast, have a calming effect on the nervous system and can aid relaxation before bedtime, though vigorous activity close to sleep may disturb it.
Experts on chrono‑nutrition advise eating the main evening meal 2–3 hours before going to bed. An earlier dinner allows more time for digestion, promotes stable nighttime glucose levels, reduces discomfort such as heartburn, and may improve sleep quality. While the timing of the meal alone does not determine weight change, combining an earlier dinner with regular physical activity and a balanced diet supports weight management and overall health.
