Morocco launches search for five missing fishermen off Safi coast
A large-scale maritime and aerial search operation is underway to locate the traditional fishing boat Lalla Khadija, which disappeared off the coast of Safi, Morocco. The vessel, carrying five crew members aged between 30 and 50, failed to return to port as expected on Friday.
The search is being coordinated by the maritime search and rescue center in Bouznika. The operation involves multiple civil and military assets, including rescue vessels from the ports of Safi and Agadir, as well as helicopters from the Royal Gendarmerie and the Royal Navy.
Additionally, several fishing boats and merchant ships in the area have been asked to assist in the search. Difficult weather and sea conditions are currently complicating efforts to locate the boat and its crew. Authorities have stated they will continue to deploy available resources and provide updates as verified information becomes available.
