Moroccan Bar Association Calls One‑Week Strike Over Justice Minister's Remarks

The Association of Lawyers in Morocco announced a full‑week strike from 15 to 21 June 2026. The move is a protest against statements by Justice Minister Abdel Latif Wahbi, which the association described as false, insulting and aimed at undermining the legal profession.

In a formal communiqué signed by its president, Colonel Hussein Ziyani, the association said the minister’s remarks constitute unfounded accusations that target lawyers and their institutions. The bar association outlined several escalation steps: a letter to the Prime Minister, a coordinated media response, and the suspension of court work during the strike period while keeping its office meetings open to monitor developments. It also defended the legality and social benefits of its solidarity fund, which is overseen by the ACAPS regulatory body, and affirmed respect for constitutional and legislative institutions.
