Moroccan Consulate in Orly vandalized by Polisario supporters

The Moroccan Consulate General in Orly, France, has condemned acts of vandalism targeting its premises during the night of October 15 to 16, 2026. The consulate reported that five individuals, identifying themselves as supporters of the Polisario Front, defaced the building's walls with political slogans.

French authorities have responded to the incident, with reports indicating that three of the five suspects have already been arrested. The consulate expressed its gratitude for the rapid response of the French police and stated its confidence in the ongoing investigation to identify all perpetrators.

In addition to the physical damage, the consulate expressed concern regarding recent political initiatives by certain local elected officials in the Val-de-Marne department concerning the Western Sahara issue. The consulate argued that these local political stances conflict with France's official foreign policy and international obligations, specifically citing UN Security Council Resolution 2797, which supports the Moroccan autonomy plan as a basis for settlement.

The incident has sparked significant indignation among the Moroccan community in France, with many expressing solidarity with the consulate and condemning the provocations.
