Moroccan consumer watchdog demands better transport oversight

The Moroccan Observatory for Consumer Protection has called for increased oversight of transportation services during the summer season. The organization raised concerns regarding passenger rights amidst high travel volumes, citing issues such as delays, overcrowding, and a perceived decline in service quality relative to prices paid.

The Observatory questioned whether passengers are being adequately informed of the reasons for delays and if their rights are being respected during trip cancellations or changes. To address these challenges, the group urged relevant authorities to intensify monitoring of transport quality and to strengthen mechanisms for receiving and processing passenger complaints.

Additionally, the Observatory recommended that passenger rights be clearly displayed within transport stations and vehicles to ensure travelers are aware of the protections and procedures available to them. The organization emphasized that the relationship between transport providers and consumers should be built on transparency, information, and the fulfillment of contractual obligations.
