Moroccan employees plan protest against university tuition fees
The National Coordination of Employees and Workers subject to flexible scheduling has announced a national protest in front of the Parliament in Rabat, scheduled for Sunday, November 1, 2026. The demonstration aims to protest tuition fees imposed on employees and workers seeking to pursue university studies and to defend the principle of free public education.
The decision follows a meeting of the coordination's national office on October 24. The group is calling for a freeze on the application of Article 81 until a fair solution is reached. They are also demanding that employees who successfully passed entrance exams for Master's programs be allowed to register, particularly those facing obstacles due to limited seating in standard timing systems.
Furthermore, the coordination is seeking the settlement of cases for those affected by these measures, including those forced to discontinue their studies, and the potential reimbursement of paid fees through legal procedures. The group has criticized the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Innovation, arguing that these fees contradict principles of social equity and equal opportunity.
