Moroccan Forum of Young Journalists reports decade of media advocacy

The Moroccan Forum of Young Journalists has released a comprehensive report documenting its activities and evolution from 2017 to 2026. Titled ‘From Capacity Building to Impact Creation’, the document details the organization’s transition from hosting sporadic initiatives to implementing structured programs focused on professional development, knowledge production, and media policy influence.

Between 2017 and 2026, the Forum organized 49 training sessions benefiting approximately 1,000 participants. These programs covered critical areas including human rights, freedom of expression, journalist protection, digital safety, data journalism, and combating disinformation. Additionally, the Forum hosted 36 professional consultation events, such as seminars and workshops, involving journalists, academics, and human rights activists to discuss legislative and technological shifts in the media sector.

In terms of advocacy and knowledge production, the Forum published 20 documents between 2018 and 2026, including seven advocacy memos, four books, and several professional guides and reports. Its advocacy work has targeted media self-regulation, the reform of the National Press Council, and the legal framework for press freedom. Internationally, the Forum has engaged with the United Nations Human Rights Council and achieved consultative status with UNESCO in 2025.
