Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights addresses youth challenges

To mark International Youth Day, the Fez local office of the Moroccan League for the Defense of Human Rights organized a scientific seminar titled ‘Youth Today… Makers of Change and Leaders of Tomorrow.’ The event focused on the reality of Moroccan youth, their aspirations, and the necessity of enhancing their participation in public life.

Discussions addressed key challenges including professional integration, entrepreneurship, and the socio-economic impacts of digitalization and artificial intelligence. Participants emphasized that investing in youth requires concrete public policies in education, training, and employment rather than mere rhetoric.

In a related statement, the Moroccan League warned that structural issues such as high unemployment, difficulty accessing decent work, and regional inequalities are widening the gap between youth and state institutions. The organization noted that a lack of alignment between education systems and labor market requirements, alongside limited involvement in decision-making, has led to declining trust in reform efforts. The League called for integrated policies to ensure social protection, political participation, and equal opportunities to leverage Morocco’s young demographic as a resource for development.
