Moroccan National Front criticizes exclusion of SAMIR refinery from government program

The National Front for the Salvation of the Moroccan Petroleum Refinery has criticized the Moroccan government for omitting the SAMIR refinery file and the regulation of fuel prices from its official program. The group stated that ignoring these issues undermines government credibility, especially as rising fuel costs impact citizen purchasing power and national business competitiveness.

The Front emphasized that global energy instability, caused by wars and disruptions to maritime trade routes, necessitates a cohesive national approach to ensure energy security and sovereignty. They argued that restarting the SAMIR refinery is an urgent economic and sovereign necessity, noting that refining margins can exceed six dirhams per liter of diesel.

Additionally, the organization called for an end to the liberalization of fuel prices, advocating for a return to regulated pricing to mitigate inflation and the rising cost of living. The group expressed its readiness to coordinate with various stakeholders to develop national petroleum and gas industries, create jobs, and protect workers' rights.
