Moroccan publishers boycott Popular Movement Party activities

The National Association of Media and Publishers in Morocco has announced a boycott of all activities related to the Popular Movement Party and its Secretary-General, Mohamed Ouzzine. The decision follows what the association described as personal insults and derogatory remarks directed at its president.

The association stated that Ouzzine’s comments, made in his official capacity as a political leader, constitute an attack not just on an individual, but on the entire professional organization and the dignity of Moroccan journalists. The dispute stems from Ouzzine’s previous characterization of the association as a ‘sector of scavengers’ during parliamentary discussions regarding the renewal of the National Press Council.

Additionally, the association referenced an incident involving an alleged attack on a Chouf TV crew in Khenifra and Oued Ifrane while they were covering flood victims. The association accused Ouzzine of attempting to broker deals to artificially inflate media coverage for his party’s upcoming electoral campaign.
