Moroccan unions protest administrative issues and union restrictions

Labor unions affiliated with the Confédération Démocratique du Travail (CDT) in Morocco have launched protests across different regions to denounce administrative irregularities and the restriction of union freedoms.

In Beni Mellal, employees of Sultan Moulay Slimane University held a protest against what they described as an unsound institutional situation and unresolved administrative and financial files. The union highlighted delays in paying entitlements and the freezing of national demands, including salary increases. They called on the Ministry of Higher Education to resolve the university's institutional status and address administrative stagnation to ensure the continuity of public services.

In the Boulemane province, the National Union of Education also organized protests following allegations of targeted harassment against union members. Following a protest at the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab High School in Tandit, which reportedly led to the targeting of eleven activists, the union announced a car protest to defend the right to collective expression and protest against perceived attempts to intimidate workers.
