Moroccan worker dies in Malta after altercation with Polish tourist

Abdellatif Oumakhlouf, a 31-year-old Moroccan construction worker, died in St. Julian’s, Malta, following a violent altercation in a park near the Paceville nightlife district. An autopsy revealed that Oumakhlouf suffered a fatal head injury after being punched, causing him to fall backward and strike his head on the concrete ground.

Sebastian Malinowski, a 27-year-old Polish tourist, was arrested after being identified via CCTV footage and has been charged with murder. During his court appearance, Malinowski pleaded not guilty. It was noted that Polish authorities had previously sought Malinowski for bodily harm in Gdansk, though he was not on any international wanted lists, allowing him to enter Malta undetected.

Oumakhlouf had lived in Malta for approximately one year and was the primary breadwinner for his family in Morocco. His employer, Attard Bros Group, and the president of the International Moroccan Community in Malta described him as a hardworking and respectful individual. Morocco’s diplomatic mission is currently working to repatriate his body to his home country.
